The following lessons were created by teachers who attended the NEH Inventing America in Lowel, Massachusetts. The week was dedicated to discovering the the forces behind the industrial buildup in Lowell as well as going behind the scenes to understand the what factory live and farm life was about during the 1800's in the Massachusetts area. The workshop was full of activities which included trips to Old Sturbridge Village, Minutemen National Park, Walden Pond, walking tours of Lowell, and visits to the actual factories and living spaces of the the factory girls of the 1830-50s.
